What is the WhatsApp Business API?
The WhatsApp Business API is Meta's interface (WhatsApp Business Platform) for businesses that send and receive WhatsApp messages at scale. The free WhatsApp Business App runs on one main device and up to four linked devices. With the API any number of teammates can work together, plus automation, CRM integration and marketing campaigns, for example through SendSeven.
How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost?
API Only on SendSeven starts at €9 per channel per month with 1,000 messages included, then €0.005 per message. Meta's own message fees come on top and vary by category (marketing, utility, authentication) and recipient country. Since 1 October 2026, service messages cost the utility rate of the market, and the first 1,000 per phone number per month are free.
How do I connect my number?
You connect your number right in SendSeven via Embedded Signup. All you need is a Meta Business account. Business verification is not required to get started. If you go through it later, Meta decides how long it takes.
Is the WhatsApp Business API GDPR-compliant?
Yes, when set up correctly. SendSeven hosts data in the EU (Frankfurt, Google Cloud). The AI runs in the EU too, and you can switch it off at any time. The data processing agreement (DPA) covers every plan, and you can download it in the app under Settings at any time. Opt-in and opt-out workflows are built in.
What is the difference between the WhatsApp Business App and the API?
The WhatsApp Business App is free, runs on one main device plus up to four linked devices and reaches at most 256 contacts per broadcast. It has no API access. The API through SendSeven adds message templates, interactive buttons and lists, carousels, webhooks, CRM integration, an AI Agent (from Professional) and campaigns at scale.
Can I use my existing phone number?
Yes. You can connect a new number or one that already runs in the WhatsApp Business App. With Coexistence you use the Business App and the API on the same number at the same time. A few features are not available with Coexistence, such as calls, dynamic Flows and sending products.
Can I use WhatsApp together with other channels?
Yes. The same API reaches all 8 channels: WhatsApp, SMS, Email, Instagram, Messenger, Live Chat, Telegram and Browser Push. One endpoint, one data model, no channel-specific SDKs.
Can I build SendSeven into my SaaS platform?
Yes, with API Only. Each of your customers gets its own isolated tenant with its own WhatsApp number and data. You manage all tenants centrally with one parent token and X-Tenant-ID and pull usage and cost per tenant via the API. For your users there is OAuth2 with PKCE and scopes. Hosted in the EU, no per-user fees.
What happens after the free trial?
You choose API Only from €9 per channel per month or the Full Suite from Basic (€49/month). Nothing is charged automatically. To keep sending, pick a plan.
Do I need consent before messaging customers?
Yes. WhatsApp requires explicit consent (opt-in) before you message customers first. Customers agree actively, for example through a form, a checkbox or a Click-to-WhatsApp ad. SendSeven comes with opt-in management and unsubscribe flows.
